With sharp, aggressive choreography and an original score, HOME MADE explores the delicate balance between tenderness and hostility, where playfulness becomes manipulation and exploration shades into aggression.
A male and female dance duo, accompanied by male and female live vocalists, interweave music and movement in a daring exploration of the awkwardness of human beauty and the struggles of intimate negotiation.
Choreographer Angelle Hebert and composer Phillip Kraft began their artistic collaboration in 2000 and co-founded the Portland-based dance company tEEth in 2006. Their work is generated through deeply collaborative processes, interweaving original music and movement through melodic and conceptual mirroring. Approaching the body with an eye for life’s beauty and dark absurdity, tEEth offers a poignant and uncompromising glimpse of humanity, combining technical virtuosity with raw visceral impact.

With Russell and Smith splitting compositions and lead vocals down the middle, the band is hallmarked by two distinctive and capable front men adding depth and richness to their music. Claude Bernard on keys, Keith Langford on drums, and multi-instrumentalist Max Johnston complete the tight quintet that projects the alternative-indie-roots sensibilities of their hometown, Austin, Texas.

This is the true-to-life dramatization of the death of 14-year-old Emmett Till, a Chicago teenager who, while visiting relatives in Mississippi in August 1955, was kidnapped, tortured and murdered by two white men who claimed they wanted to teach him a lesson for (allegedly) whistling at a local white woman. The horror and brutality of this crime were magnified when Emmett’s mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, invited the media to Emmett's open-casket funeral so they could see for themselves her son's mutilated face. The shocking pictures were published by the American black press and later republished around the world, sparking a multitude of emotions and reactions.

Paul Zindel's 1971 Pulitzer Prize-winning play revolves around a self-centered, abusive woman named Beatrice who heads a husband-less household while trying to manage her two very different daughters. Extroverted and unstable Ruth is easily bought off with an occasional cigarette. More difficult to control is shy Tillie, keeper of rabbits, dreamer of atoms, and true believer in life, hope, and the effect of gamma rays on man-in-the-moon marigolds. As she prepares a science fair experiment involving marigolds raised from seeds exposed to radioactivity, Tillie is constantly thwarted by her mother and sister.
"Shame hangs in the air of this house and palpably as poison gas," said Time magazine. "And yet, Zindel reminds us, strong, strange, beautiful flowers spring from such compost heaps. It is a troubling thought, one of the honest and intelligent values of this splendid and tormented play."

Diavolo reinvents dance, re-imagines theater, and redefines thrills. Diavolo is comprised of dancers, gymnasts and actors under the creative directorship of Jacques Heim, who together create large-scale interdisciplinary performances examining the funny and frightening ways individuals act with their environment. Diavolo takes movement, athletics, and daring to the extreme, creating abstract narratives through surreal tableaux in which inspiration thrives. The sets created are outrageous and surrealistic and form an intrinsic part of each piece of work. Everyday items such as doors, chairs and stairways provide the back-drop for dramatic movement – leaping, flying, twirling – that creates metaphors for the challenge of relationships, the absurdities of life and the struggle to maintain our humanity in an increasingly technological world.
